Girl, 6, dies in Nadi home fire

Girl, 6, dies in Nadi home fire A 6-year-old girl died in a house fire in Martintar, Nadi last night.

According to Police, the girl child was trapped during the incident.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a report of a fire was received through the 917 Police line after 9pm where Police and National Fire Authority Officers were deployed to the scene.

She said the victim was home with a relative and an older sibling when the incident happened.

Naisoro said bystanders tried to rescue the child, but due to the intensity of the fire, their attempts proved furtile.

NFA and Police are jointly investigating the matter.
