Police Officers are conducting school visitations around the country this week as part of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

The World Drug Day is marked annually on the 26th of June to strengthen efforts and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said officers are engaging with students and shedding light on the importance of the theme, “Understanding and Sharing Facts on Drugs, Saves Lives”, to combat misinformation by sharing real facts on the harmful and devastating consequences of drugs.

She said they hope parents and guardians will continue to educate and empower their children at home, reinforcing the message that there are real consequences with anything associated with the illicit drug trade.
