Raiwai brawl suspects remanded Two men who were allegedly involved in a brawl in Raiwai on Sunday have been remanded by the Magistrates Court in Suva.

Ilikimi Kurusiga and Tamani Dogoloa appeared before Magistrate Seini Puamau charged with one count each of incite.

Police Prosecutor Monish Chandra strongly objected to bail saying tension is high between the two communities that were involved in the brawl and a man remains admitted in hospital after being seriously injured.

He said a community was also threatened and Police are yet to make more arrests and they have direct evidence against the two.
The court was informed that a man from Nabua was drinking with some youth from Raiwai when an argument allegedly started.

It is alleged the man then returned to Nabua and brought the youth from the Mead Road PRB Housing and attacked his party mates.

Defence lawyer Loqi Cati told the court that his clients were held in custody for more than 48 hours.

Magistrate Puamau told the prosecution that they cannot keep the law by breaking it and she will remand the two for the safety of the community and to prevent any brawl in the weekend.

She stated that she will hear evidence on Monday before deciding on bail for the two accused persons.
