Lawyer Amrit Sen who is charged with the murder of 49-year-old John Rusiate in Korotari, Labasa on 5 June with three others was granted bail on strict conditions by the High Court on Friday.

Sen is charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of conspiracy, seven counts of acts intended to cause grievous harm, two counts of criminal intimidation, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and one count of damaging property.

While granting him bail on a surety bond of $5000, Judge Justice Aruna Aluthge ordered that a 6pm to 6am curfew be placed on him and that he reports to Delailabasa Police Post every Saturday, does not interfere with witnesses and surrenders all travel documents.

Two other suspects, Shumedha Chandra and Maqtadeer Saif Khaiyum have each been released on $1000 surety bond and put on 8pm to 4am curfew.

They also have to report to Delailabasa Police Post every Saturday and surrender all travel documents.

Chandra is charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and a count of conspiracy act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm while Khaiyum and a fourth suspect, Joji Bale who was granted bail on Thursday, have each been charged with conspiracy.

The case has been adjourned to August 2.
