Fiji-Korea ties growing considerably: Rhee

President of Samsung Electronics In-yong Rhee says economic ties between Korea and Fiji continues to grow and have advanced considerably in support by trade and investments, business exchanges and official development assistance.
 
Speaking during the Fiji-Korea Business Forum 2022 in Suva yesterday, he said the aim is to explore and discuss further onto facilitating trade and investment between Fiji and Korea in a post Covid economy. 
 
“The Korean Government under President Yoon, who took the office in early May this year, strives to build and bolster networks of cooperation with various regions of the world, in particular with Indo-Pacific region."
 
"Our own Indo-Pacific Strategy will consider security implication while focusing on economy and trade," said Rhee.
 
"Fiji has also joined the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) that is an effort for increasing Korea’s presence and contribution in this Indo-Pacific region. Korea will endeavor through Government-wide collaboration to nature the capacity in preventing and addressing supply chain disruptions."

Fiji-Korea ties growing considerably: Rhee He said Korea’s participation seeks to consolidate international collaboration for economic security and further strengthening cooperation with countries sharing similar values and norms by supporting outbound investment in core technologies such as semiconductors, batteries and expanding R&D cooperation.

Rhee also mentioned about the Korean Government 's bid to host World Expo 2030 in Busan that would  benefit Pacific Island Countries and the details would be presented later.
