219 applications for PM's awards This year’s Prime Minister’s International Business Awards has seen an increase in application numbers in comparison to the previous event in 2019.

A total of 219 applications have been submitted through an online portal for all thirteen categories in various sectors.

Investment Fiji chief executive Kamal Chetty said this has been a reflection of the growing Fijian economy and businesses that have subsisted and still thriving from the challenges of the past two years due to the global pandemic.

“Now entering its 30th year, the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards has till date inspired countless businesses to diversify their potential. Winners from past award ceremonies are making significant contributions to the Fijian economy.”

“We are overwhelmed with the applications that we have received so far and I would like to thank all applicants who have submitted their applications.”

“The next step obviously, is the judging process, and we have engaged high-caliber and experienced judges from the private and public sectors who will vet the applications,” he said.

Chetty added that the award will also elevate the businesses and help create the recognition and branding needed to assist in marketing their products and services globally.

“This demonstrates that the Fijian Government values and recognizes businesses for their achievements, innovation and resilience, mainly as they strive to grow and expand their global footprints.”

The theme for the 2022 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards is ‘Recovery, Resilience and Progress’ and the awards ceremony is a celebration of the businesses that have endured the challenges of the global pandemic, through diversification and innovation incorporated into their operations.

There are 17 awards and 13 categories this year with the introduction of three new categories, namely the Excellence in Outsourcing Award, the Best Crisis in Recovery Award and Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access (PHAMA) Plus Agribusiness Innovation Challenge.

There will also be four new recognition awards to acknowledge businesses that have made an impact to the Fijian economy.

The awards will also motivate businesses to continue to raise standards, create job opportunities and enhance corporate excellence and innovation.

The 2022 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards will be held on Saturday, 10th December, 2022 at the Sheraton Resort, Nadi.
