Police heighten alert ahead of Deans

Police will not condone any unruly behaviour leading up to the long weekend and the finals at the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Dean’s Final Competitions.
 
This is the word from Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho as the Police boost its operations after last weekend’s alleged stoning of busses in  Kalokolevu Village.
 
Police has confirmed two minors aged 15 and 17. were taken into custody yesterday for the alleged stoning of a bus carrying passengers from Nadi after the Deans semi-finals.
 
Qiliho said these sorts of behaviour are not condoned and operational plans are being put together to ensure the safety of Fijians.
 
“Operations will be boosted this weekend and reiterate the warning that unruly behaviour will not be condoned,” Qiliho said. 
 
“We are also calling on parents, guardians and teachers to be mindful of their children’s behaviour and activities to and from the tournament venue and be considerate of other members of the public,” he added. 
 
Chief Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdul Khan has put together a traffic management plan which includes escorting packages for participating teams.
