New Members of Parliament announced

Electoral Commission chair Mukesh Nand today announced the names of 55 new Members of Parliament.

The total number of votes casted in the 2022 General Election was 473,910 and the five per cent threshold needed by the parties to make it into Parliament was 23,696.

Under the D’Hondt method, the Commission calculated the highest votes per party and divided it from 1-55 or the number of candidates that they have and once they have the divided number, the seats are then allocated in ascending order.

FijiFirst and People’s Alliance fielded 55 candidates each, while NFP and SODELPA had 54 candidates each.

In terms of seat allocation, FijiFirst secured 26 seats, People’s Alliance managed to get 21 seats, NFP 5 seats and SODELPA 3.

The 55 candidates that have made Parliament are Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, Sitiveni Rabuka, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Lynda Tabuya, Parveen  Bala, Charan Jeath Singh, Mahendra Reddy, Filimoni Vosarogo, Biman Prasad, Hem Chand, Manoa Kamikamica, Ratu Josaia Niudamu, Rinesh Sharma, Isikeli Tuiwailevu, Alvick Maharaj, Viliame Gavoka, Iliesa Vanavalu, Rosy Akbar, Siromi Turaga, Lenora Qereqeretabua, Vijay Nath,  RatuAtonio Lalabalavu, Ioane Naivalurua, Jese Saukuru, Inia Seruiratu, Shalen Kumar, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure, Faiyaz Koya, Maciu Nalumisa, Agini Deo Singh, Premila Kumar, Jovesa Vocea, Jone Usamate,  Ifereimi Vasu, Sakiusa Tubuna, Viam Pillay, Vatimi Rayalu, Sanjay Kirpal, Joseph Nand, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Pio Tikoduadua, Semi Koroilavesau, Tomasi Tunabuna, Ifereimi Waqainabete, Sakiasi Ditoka, Viliame Naupoto, Esrom Immanuel, Aliki Bia, Kalaveti Ravu, Sashi Kiran, Naisa Tuinaceva, Aseri Radrodro,  Alitia Bainivalu, Mosese Bulitavu and Ketan Lal.
