The Fiji First Party is willing to work with the Social Democratic Liberal Party and help it to be a relevant entity in the lead-up to the 2026 Generation Elections says party General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Khaiyum said FijiFirst is looking for a mature, respectful and equal relationship with SODELPA
“FijiFirst believes that their relationship will position SODELPA much better for the 2026 General Election,” he said.
Sayed-Khaiyum said as supposed to be the third player in the so-called coalition with the Peoples Alliance and National Federation Party where they will be the extreme minority junior party.
“Treated like the poorer cousin. SODELPA wouldn’t be able to position them better for the 2026 General Election.”
Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that people were targeted in SODELPA.
He said, for example now, Lenaitasi Duru and various other people are being attacked.
“What we are saying is that FijiFirst does not have that toxic relationship. We are saying to them that they will be able to maintain some level of self-respect to be able to work with FijiFirst, to be able to remain a relevant Political Party for the 2026 General Election,” he said.
