The Social Democratic Liberal Party’s (SODELPA) Management Board is currently meeting at the Southern Cross Hotel in Suva to validate the decision of their previous decision taken on Tuesday.
On Tuesday night, People’s Alliance, National Federation Party and the Social Democratic Liberal Party agreed to a coalition and signed the Memorandum of Agreement to formalise this arrangement.
By Wednesday, the three Parties met to iron out the details and held a workshop. This all happened despite the General Secretary of SODELPA, Lenaitasi Duru writing a letter to His Excellency the President to delay the convening of Parliament’s first sitting.
Duru wrote to the Office of the President and to the Registrar of Political Parties indicating the anomalies and irregularities that transpired during the Management Board.
Saneem wrote back to SODELPA, indicating the meeting non-compliant.
Yesterday, the Working Committee met to identify these issues of anomalies and irregularities identified by Saneem.
Also, yesterday in a press conference, Acting Deputy Leader, Aseri Radrodro was vague on the matter whether it’s Memorandum of Agreement with the People’s Alliance and the National Federation was still in place.
It is understood that the Management Board will today look at whether the decision from Tuesday to go with Pa’s and NFP still stands or not.
Radrodro also confirmed that all three parties will again make representation today.
This is a developing story and we will be posting updates as information comes to hand.
