Outgoing Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has thanked the supporters of the FijiFirst Party for their support during a rigorous campaign period during the 2022 General Election.
In conceding loss to the incoming Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Bainimarama said that they are still the largest political party in Parliament.
“This is democracy and this is my legacy, the 2013 Constitution.”
“Both the People’s Alliance and the National Federation Party had wanted change, and the Social Democratic Liberal Party has given them that change.”
Bainimarama was edged by Rabuka via secret ballot voting in Parliament today where he managed to get 27 votes while Rabuka secured 28 votes.
