HHF wants counseling services in schools

The Healing Hands Foundation (HHF) is calling on the new Government will develop and promote counseling services in all Fijian schools.

While welcoming the election of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and his cabinet, Principal Counselor Mohenesh Singh said as we move forward, we all have a part to play and most importantly work in the best interest of all citizens.

He said every child deserves a champion adult who will never give up on them and understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.

“Counseling is the only tool that can be used to support our children in schools and guide them through their educational journey.”

“Together with this, we also hope the Government will establish counseling centers where our young people have easy access to professional counseling services.”

Singh said young Fijians will always look for similar age counselors who can understand their feelings and issues.

“Therefore it is time we look into investing in the counseling profession and establish Youth counselors in Fiji as we need healthy and happy youths for the development of better Fiji.”

He is also proposing for the Government to build shelters for youths who end up on streets after dropping out from schools or losing their parents and guardians.

“Government can build shelters in every district and name it as MyHome where they can provide accommodation to those youths above the age of 18 and train them with skill training courses. Once they are graduated they can be channeled out into the job market and live independently.”
