Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka is calling on public servants to work without fear and to exercise freedom of expression when the need arises.
He made this statement while speaking to Heads of Government Departments yesterday, as he began his first tour of Vanua Levu.
Rabuka said working in fear was not encouraged but for individuals to carry out their work to the best of their abilities, to promote nation building.
“Our mode of operation is, in cooperation with the people to promote the development of our nation – that is why you would have heard in my New Year’s address, I focused on unity and joint effort,” he said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that the Government’s core function was to assist members of the public.
He said it was imperative that civil servants worked hand in hand, to ensure that this was carried out well.
Rabuka will also visit Namulomulo Village and continue his week-long tour of the North today. He is also expected to open the Drekeniwai Village hall, in Cakaudrove.
