Borne commends Fiji’s election process

Prime Minister for the Republic of France, Elisabeth Borne has commended the civic-minded behaviour and democratic values that Fiji citizens demonstrated throughout the electoral process.

In her congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, she said France very attentively followed the Fiji elections in which French observers participated.

“As you know, France is also a Pacific nation. As part of France’s and the European Union’s strategies regarding the Indo-Pacific, the French Government intends to build France’s ties with the States and organisations in the region in tangible terms, and with Fiji in particular to tackle major challenges, including fighting climate change and protecting biodiversity.

“We will be by your side as you carry out your mandate and we hope that our two countries’ relationship of friendship and cooperation will grow even stronger in the future, on the basis of shared values and positions in the international arena,” said Prime Minister Borne.
