Transport assistance scheme for students

The Ministry of Education is calling on parents and guardians to apply for the Transport Assistance for students for this academic year.

Parents and guardians who have a combined household income of $16,000 or less are eligible for this assistance.

Minister Responsible, Aseri Radrodro, is urging parents to submit online applications or paper transport application to their child’s school before 24 January.

Radrodro says as the Ministry’s takes its services online, it is now piloting an optional online transport assistance application process for students in Years 10 to 13, where parents or guardians can register and apply for transport assistance using the new online portal.

He said this is to streamline the application process for families and schools while providing improved communications with parents and guardians.

The online portal can be found at www. studentparentsportal.edu.gov.fj. Instructions for applying online as well as information on the required documents that need to accompany the application can be found on the portal.
