Patterson to coach and play at Manurewa AFC

New Zealand international striker Monty Patterson is confirmed to coach and at the same time play at the newly-promoted Northern League club Manurewa AFC this season.

The former All White will play in the Northern League but has been named as head coach for the club’s U-23 side, Rewa’s U-17 and U-19 teams for their national tournaments in late 2023.

The 26-year-old returns for a second season with Manurewa AFC after joining the club from Auckland United.

His move into coaching adds to the strengthening of Rewa’s coaching staff also with the arrival of veteran coach Paul Marshall who will help head coach Rhys Ruka.

Marshall left his role as Director of Football at Onehunga Mangere United at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Manurewa AFC features players from Fiji such as Ishtiyaq Shah and Mohammed Muzakkir Nabeel and Argentinian Nicolas Bobadilla who helped Ba win the recent Pacific Cup in Nadi.
