PM awaits President to endorse names

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he will announce the names of newly appointed members of the Public Service Commission once the nominations are endorsed by His Excellency, the President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.

Rabuka said the Constitutional Offices Commission has submitted a well-balanced list of nominees for the position of Chairman and the five members.

He said there are some new appointees while the others are previous sitting members.

Rabuka also highlighted that they will look at appointing members of the Mercy Commission at a later date, as there were pressing matters that the COC had to look at today.

He said this will be a substantive matter that they will discuss later on.

Rabuka, Attorney-General Siromi Turaga and Opposition Leader Voreqe Bainimarama are the ex-officio members of the COC while Constitutional lawyer Jon Apted, former NFP President Roko Tupou Draunidalo and Cema Bolabola are the appointed members.
