PM to take delivery of naval vessel from Aust

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will officially receive Fiji’s second-largest Guardian-class patrol boat, RFNS Puamau from the Australian Defence Force in Perth today.

This significant event further highlights the commitment and mutual support that is the mainstay of the Vuvale Partnership, particularly in the area of security and defence cooperation between Fiji and Australia.

The naval vessel will greatly assist Fiji in its efforts to combat threats to its maritime territories, tackling issues such as illegal fishing and transnational organised crime, including drug trafficking.

Rabuka also had a townhall style “talanoa” session with the Fiji community in Perth last night where he provided updates on the latest developments and progress of the Peoples Coalition Government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications,  Manoa Kamikamica is Acting Prime Minister while the Prime Minister undertakes official duties in Australia.
