Post Fiji Limited has been gifted new postal equipment worth AUD$90,000, marking a significant enhancement to its operations.
The equipment was handed over as part of the Pacific Postal Development Partnership initiative, a collaboration between the Australian Government and Australia Post.
Sakiusa Tubuna, Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, officiated the handover ceremony.
He said Australia and Fiji share a strong and enduring bilateral relationship underpinned by the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership.
“This is a comprehensive partnership supporting deeper ties between our two nations.”
The equipment provided includes electronic vehicles, delivery bikes, sorting racks, laptops, portable conveyors, and scanners.
“The assistance of laptops, computers, and scanners will enhance Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) related to e-commerce. The conveyors, racks, and trolleys will enhance operational efficiency and will eliminate tiring labor,” Tubuna explained.
Post Fiji has 58 outlets countrywide and is instrumental in ensuring that rural and maritime regions in Fiji can access services like international money transfers and stationery goods.
Tubuna also mentioned the government’s plans for the reconstruction of the Post office in Lomaloma, Vanuabalavu Lau, which suffered damage during Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016.
