Primary healthcare must be guaranteed: Ravunawa

Health Shadow Minister Penioni Ravunawa has called on the Coalition Government to put its money where its mouth is and ensure that all Fijians have access to primary healthcare services.

Speaking to FijiLive, the Opposition MP was responding to the recent attack on an Indo-Fijian in Ba.

“I am deeply concerned with what has happened and as a Member of Parliament, as a member of society and leader – I call on the relevant authority to address these issues as a matter of urgency,” Ravunawa said.

The Opposition MP has also called on his Parliamentary colleague, the Minister for Health Dr Atonio Lalabalavu to order an inquiry into the patient’s early discharge from the private hospital in Ba.

Ravunawa added that the Government must put all efforts to enhance public safety and improve healthcare standards.

FijiLive has also reached out to the Ministry of Health for comments.
