The Pacific Islands Forum Secretary-General, Henry Puna has commended Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for his unwavering commitment to advancing regional solidarity of the Pacific family.
In a congratulatory letter to Rabuka, Puna welcomed Rabuka as the new chair of the Forum and said the veteran politician brings with him vast experiences and political agility to the Secretariat.
“Fiji continues to be a remarkable leader in the region and most recently, has been instrumental in the development of the region’s long term political strategy and vision now known as the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.”
“Fiji’s recent efforts at the regional level are a testament to the robust and able capacity of your senior officials’ and I take this opportunity to again commend and acknowledge their support to the Secretariat and their leadership across a range of regional initiatives.”
“I am in no doubt of the complexities and challenges before you as a nation, and I remain confident in your leadership and your Government to work constructively and conscientiously to address and overcome these challenges,” he said.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the ongoing support of the Pacific Islands Forum and its Secretariat will work closely towards collective solutions to the common challenges across the region.
