Rawaqa salutes Election Officials, officers

71-year-old Sereana Rawaqa applauded the Fijian Elections Office Elections Officials and Police officers manning the Statham Campus polling station in Suva after conveniently casting her vote during the 2022 General Election today.

Rawaqa, who has walking issues and came in a cab, was all in tears as the Elections Officials and Police officers reached out and assisted her in voting.

“All the other times I came to vote, I could walk inside the polling station to vote but today it was very emotional for me.”

“I thought it would be challenging for me to make my vote count because I can’t walk and the cab wouldn’t get inside the station.”

“Really proud to see the assistance by the election officials and Police who brought the entire polling station to the car.”

“Very happy that I was able to vote and also I thank the workers and the Police who assisted me.”

With just a few hours remaining till the polling closes at 6 pm, she has urged the Fijians to exercise their right.

“Voting is important and let’s just go out and vote.”

“It’s an important thing and we need to practice that right.”

“My advise to the youths is to come out of their comfort zone and vote for your future.”
