Rewa eyes historic semis berth

Rewa head coach Roderick Singh is optimistic yet cautious as the team acknowledges the importance of the crucial qualifying match against PNG’s Hekari United in the OFC Men’s Championships.

While Rewa only needs a draw to advance, Singh says that the team is aiming for more than just securing a semifinal spot; they are eager to make history.

“The boys know that there’s a semifinal position at stake and it can be a historic moment for us. Rewa has participated in O-leagues but we have never managed to make it to the semis, so this is an opportunity for us to create history,” Singh stated.

Rewa is currently managing injury concerns, with key players Inosi Matanisiga and Iosefo Verevou affected.

Matanisiga played through pain in the previous game against Solomon Warriors but had to be substituted due to injury.

Singh praised Hekari United, describing them as a quality side known for their quick breaks and speed, which he anticipates will challenge Rewa.

“It all comes down to the opportunities that are presented to us. We’ll have to defend and manage the ball properly,” he noted.

The Delta Tigers will play Hekari United tomorrow at 10am.
