Rewa undeterred by exhaustion and injuries

After returning from the OFC Men’s Champions League in Tahiti, Rewa players landed back in Fiji on Tuesday and immediately headed to Labasa for the Digicel Fiji FACT.

Despite being in good form from playing top Pacific teams last week, the team faces challenges with exhaustion and injuries.

Speaking to FijiLive, Head Coach Roderick Singh shared concerns about the team’s fatigue after a demanding travel schedule.

“To be very honest, the boys are very tired. We had a 5-hour flight from Tahiti and 3 hours from New Zealand to Fiji. We just had one day rest on Wednesday, and then we’ll travel to Labasa on Thursday,” said Singh.

He hopes the fatigue will not impact their performance, though he acknowledged the difficulty.

“Yes, we’re tired from all the traveling but I’m hopeful that this won’t affect our preparations considering we had 3 days of full rest in Tahiti. However, our squad had some injuries, and those three days were mainly used to nurse injuries.”

Adding to the challenges, three key players Seteriki Hughes, Samu Kautoga, and Iesefo Verevou, have been ruled out from the 22 member squad.

Leon Kofana and Iowane Matanisiga are also nursing injuries, with their status for game day still uncertain.

Despite these setbacks, Coach Singh remains optimistic and insists on giving every player a chance to prove themselves.

“We give every player in Rewa an opportunity to step up, and we cannot use injuries and exhaustion as an excuse in this Fiji FACT,” he stated.
