Fiji knocked out in Cup quarterfinal

The Fiji 7s team’s hopes of a medal finish in Cape Town 7s came to an end today as they were beaten 17-7 by the United States of America in the Cup quarterfinals.

The unsettled Fijians were rocked by their more fiery counterparts and failed to get their game rolling.

Fiji led 7-0 at the break with a try to Manueli Maisamoa in the second minute with the conversion added by Waisea Nacuqu.

A second half effort from the Eagles saw them take full control and crossed over for three tries through Joe Schroeder, David Still and Malacchi Esdale with veteran Steve Tomasin adding the conversion.

Fiji will face Uruguay in the 5th to 8th semifinal at 1.40am tomorrow morning.
