Ex Fiji skipper joins Chiefs Manawa

Former Flying Fijians Captain and Fijiana XVs assistant coach in the World Cup, Greg Smith has joined the Waitomo Chiefs Manawa coaching panel.

He has been taken up an assistant coaching role for the 2023 Sky Super Rugby Aupiki season and is joined by Darryl Suasua and Brent Kaua.

The set piece will be trained by Greg Smith, who has an outstanding resume as both a player and a coach.

Smith made 46 international appearances for Fiji, spending eight of his nine years as Captain.

He was also a Chiefs hooker and after hanging his boots in 2005, returned to the club as a resource coach.

Later he did a stint of coaching in Japan, as well as coaching the Black Ferns and assisting Manu Samoa.

Smith assisted Senirusi Seruvakula at the recent World Cup in New Zealand alongside former Flying Fijians back-line players Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Mosese Rauluni.
