Nagasau happy with Qoro’s inclusion

Meredani Qoro is the youngest member of the Fijiana 7s team now preparing for the next leg of the World Rugby 7s Series in New Zealand.

Qoro’s inclusion has delighted seasoned Fijiana 7s campaigner Rusila Nagasau who says that the early introduction and exposure of talents will go a long way in building the Fijiana brand on the world stage.

“These three weeks of training have been hard. The young players sacrificed their Christmas and New Year to be in the camp.” Nagasau said.

“We are very happy to see them put their hands up to play in the Fijiana team. It’s something we really appreciate of them for giving up their time at this young age to participate in the training.” Nagasau said.

Qoro plays for Seahawks in the domestic 7s competition and she joined the Fijiana 7s camp three weeks ago.

Nagasau said that other young players in the squad like Qoro are working hard and are fighting for a position in the team.

“We’ve got an 18-year-old player who has been involved in the training and we have seen how she is growing in the team.

It’s a big thing for us that young players join the team and see their future in 7s. They have been working really hard with the senior players in the team.” Nagasau said.

“Maria and Ani Mae have been playing for a while. For Ili to come in and put her hands up, proves that these young players really want a spot in the team for the Hamilton 7s.”

Fiji is drawn in Pool A with arch-rivals New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Great Britain.

The HSBC Hamilton 7s will be played on the 21 and 22 of this month in New Zealand.
