Army wins Coral Coast 7s

A late flourish by Army has saw them come from behind to claim their first McDonald’s Coral Coast Sevens title after beating Fire 12-5 in the Cup final at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.

Trailing 5-0 at half-time, the men from Delainabua dominated the second half to race off to a history book finish.

Fire forward Sakiusa Nareki scored the lone try of the first half which was unconverted.

Army realigned their approach and displayed their free-flowing game which they had displayed all tournament.

Serupepeli Nakita scored the first try for Army which was converted by Apisai Ravueta to give them a two point lead with two minutes to go.

Fire attempted to string their offensive together, but a hard tackle left the ball dislodged and quick passes set up Rokoua Rasaku to dive in the corner to seal the win.

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica presented Army with the $12,000 prize-money.
