Playing NZ, PNG nothing new: Nagasau

Veteran Fijiana 7s Skipper Rusila Nagasau says they have a lot of experience playing against arch rivals New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in the World 7s Series.

Nagasau, who returns to the Fijiana squad for the Hamilton 7s this week, said Fijiana is not underestimating both the sides.

“For us right now, playing against New Zealand, there’s nothing new. It’s just something we need to work hard at especially on and off the field.”

“New Zealand is the best team in the world but we have to be on our best performance to beat them.”

“We have played PNG in the Oceania 7s but we treat every team and game as a final.”

Nagasau highlighted that mental and physical fitness will play a key role in the tournament this week and at the Sydney 7s next week.

“Our fitness level is something we are really working hard on because playing the best team in the world; we have to be the best team mentally and physically.”

“I thank the management for pushing us to where we are right now. We’ll go step by step and look forward to what we can do better after every game,” she added.

The Saiasi Fuli coached side is drawn in Pool A with host team New Zealand, PNG and Great Britain.

The Hamilton 7s will be played this weekend.
