Bucalevu Secondary School athlete Tima Lagiloa Tuikaba has dedicated her 2023 Coca-Cola Games gold medal to her team for all the sacrifices in their campaign.
The 14-year-old from Luvunavuaka Village, Tailevu won gold for her school in the Sub Junior Girls Javelin Throw with a distance of 29.70 metres.
“This is for my team mates, it hasn’t been easy preparing for the games, and to come from far to take part, it is really an honour,” Tuikaba said.
“It was hard preparing for the Cokes, we had to sacrifice a lot, but I am thankful that I was able to get the job done for the team.”
Tuikaba said she was excited to take part at this years games.
“The competition is great, it just challenged me to give my best.”
“I dedicate the win to our hardworking team and to my family that has supported me throughout.”
Suliana Takayawa of Saint Bedes College took second place with a thrown distance of 29.07 metres while Saint John’s College athlete Takela Yalomalua claimed the bronze medal throwing a distance of 27.80 metres.
