Saifiti bros cement spot in Knights squad

Fiji Bati brothers Daniel and Jacob Saifiti have cemented their spot in the Newcastle Knights 2023 National Rugby League (NRL) squad.

Both the front rowers have a good 2022 season with the Knights making a cut into the Vodafone Fiji Bati squad for the Rugby League World Cup despite losing to New Zealand in the quarterfinal.

Daniel made an impressive start in the 2022 season before an injury and COVID-19 pandemic contraction saw him miss out on a few NRL games but he made an impressive comeback that saw him in the Bati squad.

Jacob on the other hand, despite starting a few games from the bench, took his game to a new level despite the Knights’ woes.

Meanwhile, new recruits Adam Elliott and Jack Hetherington are expected to add aggression to the squad while the addition of halfback Jackson Hastings should enhance the side’s attack after it struggled to make any inroads last season.

Newcastle Knights: Kalyn Ponga, Dom Young,  Dane Gagai, Bradman Best, Greg Marzhew, Tyson Gamble, Jackson Hastings, Jacob Saifiti, Jayden Brailey, Daniel Saifiti, Tyson Frizell, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Adam Elliott, Kurt Mann, Jack Hetherington, Leo Thompson, Brodie Jones, Adam Clune, Bailey Hodgson, Chris Vea’ila, Hymel Hunt, Krystian Mapapalangi, Phoenix Crossland, Simi Sasagi, Jack Johns, Mat Croker, Enari Tuala.
