Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is overwhelmed with the turnout of voters in several localities around the Central Division.
Saneem said people waiting in long queues in the early morning is an indication of how keen our voters are to cast their vote.
“I’ve been out and about since 6am this morning and I’ve visited various polling stations on my way to Suva Grammar School, and I am overwhelmed by the response and the long queues that we generally see in the Fijian elections.”
“People have been waiting patiently. There were a few people waiting outside one polling station, one set at one polling venue.”
“And inside there were seven ladies who were sitting there and one of them was there at 5.10 am.”
“Reports are also coming in from all other divisions with a similar sentiment. This is a promising sign and we hope to have an incident-free polling day today,” he added.
