Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru is currently attending the Sports Ministers meeting in Solomon Islands for the 2023 Pacific Games.
Under the theme “Uniting the Pacific Family Through Sports,” this year’s meeting aimed to foster stronger bonds and cooperation among Pacific nations through the power of sports.
The Minister emphasised the importance of unity, collaboration and the positive impact that sports can have on the lives of individuals and communities.
Saukuru actively engaged in fruitful discussions and deliberations with his counterparts from various Pacific nations.
The delegates explored ways to strengthen regional sports programs, promote inclusivity, and address common challenges faced by Pacific countries in the field of sports.
Saukuru highlighted the significant role of sports in promoting social cohesion, fostering national pride, and nurturing the physical and mental well-being of young people.
He explained the need for increased investment in sports infrastructure, training facilities, and grassroots development programs to harness the immense potential of Pacific youth in the sporting arena.
Saukuru remains steadfast in his dedication to advancing sports development in Fiji and is committed to implementing the valuable insights gained from the South Pacific Sports Ministers Meeting to further enhance the sports landscape and empower the youth of Fiji.
