Schools remain open, safety of students is key: Kuruleca

The Ministry of Education is advising all parents and guardians to take proactive measures to ensure that the safety of their children is paramount as the adverse weather persists.

In a statement, the Ministry says all Heads of Schools, School Management and Committees are urged to collaborate closely with parents and guardians to keep a close watch on weather updates.

All schools remain open for now, as the Fiji Group is expected to receive heavy rainfall in the next couple of days.

Permanent Secretary Selina Kuruleca has  called on parents and guardians to adhere to weather updates and keep their children safe.

She said the Ministry will keep a close watch on the situation and provide updates based on advice from the National Disaster Management Office and the Fiji Meteorological Service.
