Serua residents urged to move to high grounds

The National Disaster Management Office is urging residents living in coastal communities within the Galoa and Naboutini corridor in Serua along the Queen’s Highway to move to higher grounds as more rain is anticipated in the next few hours.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, the hide tide is expected at 12:32 pm today, heightening the risk of significant flooding in these communities.

Therefore, the need for evacuation to high grounds is crucial to ensure the safety of all community members.

The NDMO pleads with the public to take warnings issued by authorities seriously and have essential supplies such as non-perishable food, water, medication, and first-aid kits readily available in case of evacuation or emergencies.
