Dreketi holds champs Nadi in VPL

A second half equalizer by defender-cum-striker Ame Votoniu saw defending champion Nadi salvage a 2-2 draw against Dreketi in the Vodafone Premier League today at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Playing with the support of Northern crowd, mostly Labasa fans, Dreketi started the match attacking and went up in the 10th minute through a beautiful strike by Ashnil Raju.

Nadi skipper Iliki Ravosai leveled scores in the 25th minute but the Northerners went up again through Rohit Chand to grab a 2-1 halftime lead.

The Jetsetters managed to get the leveler midway in the second half through Votoniu who blasted the ball into the back of the net after a defensive blunder by Dreketi.

Dreketi and national stopper Shaneel Naidu who returned from injury and appeared in a headgear displayed a Man of the Match performance and made some daring saves in both spells.

Dreketi will face Ba in its second match of the weekend at 3pm tomorrow while Nadi will come up against Labasa at 1pm.
