Dreloa returns, Rabo and Naidu in doubt

National defender Jale Dreloa has rejoined Suva in training for this Saturday’s INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants semifinal against Labasa while midfielders Pita Rabo and Kelvin Naidu remain in doubt.

Dreloa did not feature in Suva’s group matches against Rewa and Nadi and failed to inform team officials about his absence.

He however had left to attend a funeral in his family and returned to the capital yesterday and had his first training session today.

Veteran Rabo and impressive Naidu picked up heavy knocks to their knees during the last group match against Nadi and had to be substituted.

Coach Gurjit Singh told FijiLive that the pair has not trained this week and they are taking precautionary measures.

“They have knee injuries and we have decided to rest them in training. We do not want the injuries to get worse and wait till tomorrow and assess the situation.”

“They are our key players and it will be a setback to lose them but we cannot do much if they are not cleared. We have other options on the bench and will bring in replacements.”

Singh is predicting a tough semifinal against Labasa.

“They have been scoring a lot of goals so surely their confidence level will be high. They also have good crowd support to back them up so we can expect them to come out firing.”

“We will try to keep things simple and just play our game. We have to make full use of our opportunities and score goals if we are to win,” he added.

The NEL Engineering Suva vs Labasa first semifinal kicks off at 2pm while the second semifinal between Singh’s Rental Lautoka and hosts Rewa will commence at 4pm.
