Makoe goal lifts Rewa over Nadi

An 86th minute goal to Amani Makoe saw Rewa register an upset win over defending champion Nadi in the Vodafone Premier League at Prince Charles Park today.

Smarting from their 2-1 over Ba last weekend, the Jetsetters entered the match as favorites but the visitors looked determined and looked dangerous upfront with national marksman Iosefo Verevou leading the charge.

The teams rested 0-0 at halftime and Nadi defender Lekima Gonerau’s screamed off the cross-bar midway in the second half.

Rewa with the introduction and Tevita Waranaivalu and Peniame Drova applied the pressure in the later stages and Makoe managed to head the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Vereti Dickson after making a timely from the defence and connecting well with a Epeli Saukuru cross.

The win gives Rewa 7 points after 4 matches while Nadi remains on 7 points after 5 matches.
