Suva beats Nadroga, grabs VPL lead

Suva has taken the lead in the Vodafone Premier League after beating Nadroga 2-1 in a tough encounter at Lawaqa Park today.

The Gurjit Singh coached side now has 12 maximum points from four matches and is two points clear of second placed Lautoka who have played a match extra.

Samuela Drudru scored both the goals for the Whites in the first half while Krishneel Dutt pulled one back for the hosts in the second spell.

Coach Singh said it was a tough match for his players and they are happy to return from Lawaqa Park with three points.

“This was our first win in two years at Lawaqa Park and I thank my players for fighting hard for the win. Nadroga played very well but the two goals we scored in the first half allowed us to hold on and register a win,” said Singh.

The loss makes life very difficult for Nadroga as they remain winless after seven matches. The bottom placed team in the Vodafone Premier League will be relegated to the Senior Division in the new season.
