Bula Boys win NZ Ethnic tourney

The Bula Boys- a representative Fijian team won the 2016 New Zealand Ethnic Football Festival in Hamilton over the weekend.

The Rams Cleaning and Future Plans Ltd sponsored side overcame Serbia 4-2 in penalty shoot-out.

Boasting the services of former Fiji district reps like Josaia Bukalidi, Apisai Smith, Nicholas Lawrence, Abbu Zahid, James Hoyt, Ravinesh Narayan, Leone Vurukania, Ratu Luke Lomasalato, Rinal Prasad, Noa Vukica, Risheel Dass, Mohd Taslim, Dinesh Lingam, Rajnesh Sharma and Captain Aeron Singh, the Fijians dominated the second half and extra time but failed to find the back of the net as the Serbians proved too strong in defence.

Former Labasa and Nadi stopper Ravinesh Narayan was the hero in the penalty shoot-out as he made a crucial save to give the side an advantage before Abbu Zahid stepped up to slot in the winning penalty.

A total of 24 teams representing different countries competed in the tournament.
