Ba bounces back, beats NZFFI All Stars

Ba bounced back to winning ways and overcame a star studded New Zealand Fiji Football Inc (NZFFI) All Stars 2-1 in an exciting Pacific Cup Pool A fixture at Prince Charles Park in Nadi tonight.

Despite missing the likes of Avinesh Warran Swamy, Malakai Tiwa, Samuela Kautoga, the Men In Black started the match attacking and went up in the 12th minute through a Roneel Kumar pile driver from outside the box.

Samuela Nabenia doubled Ba’s lead 8 minutes after as a deep cross inside the box was misjudged by the defence and the keeper with the ball landing into Nabenia’s path for an easy tap-in.

Striker Abbu Zahid pulled one back for the NZFFI All Stars just before the break to make the second half exciting.

Both teams toiled hard for goals in the second half but poor finishing, lack of communication and some good defensive play on both ends of the pitch kept the scores intact till the final whistle.

Ba ended the match with only 10 players after Narendra Rao Junior was sent off following his second booking of the night.

Ba faces AFFA All Stars in its next match at 7pm tomorrow while NZFFI All Stars will defending champion and host Nadi in a repeat of last year’s final at 8.15pm.
