USA All Stars march into semis

The United States of America (USA) All Stars have booked a semifinal spot in the 2016 Pacific Cup after beating Lautoka 1-0 in their final Pool B match today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Americans finished pool play with 9 points and will now await the outcome of the other match in Pool B between Suva and Auckland All Stars to know their standing.

Midfielder Javid Khan scored the winner for the USA All Stars from a free-kick in the 54th minute. His curling attempt landed into the roof of the net as goalkeeper Benaminio Mateinaqara fumbled the ball while attempting to make a one hand catch.

The loss puts Lautoka in a tight situation now and the Blues will have to hope that Suva does not win or draw its next match.

Suva plays Auckland All Stars next.
