Newcomers to play for fallen marksman

Newcomers Rakiraki will honour their fallen striker Ratnesh Karan Singh when they make their debut in the 2017 Vodafone Premier League this afternoon against Rewa at Ratu Cakobau Park.

Singh, the younger sibling of Suva and national striker Ravinesh Karan Singh passed away this week.

He was training with the Maroons and was set to feature for the side against the Delta Tigers.

Rakiraki boss Shaneel Goundar said they have requested to have a minute of silence in Singh's remembrance and players will also be wearing black armbands in his memory.

Rakiraki returns to top level competition after 40 years and Goundar is confident about their chances this season as the side has roped in a couple of former Fiji U20 reps and former district reps like Madre Varan, Joseph Elder, Abinesh Samy Bula, Ronald Lawrence and Jale Vota.

The Rewa vs Rakiraki match kicks off at 3pm.
