Champs Fiji make winning start

Defending champion Fiji thumped Japan 41-0 in its opening match of the 2017 Las Vegas 7s at Sam Boyd Stadium in Nevada today.

The Osea Kolinisau skippered side was ruthless from the opening whistle and led 19-0 at halftime with tries to Kalione Nasoko, Mesulame Kunavula and Vatemo Ravouvou.

In-form winger Joeli Lutumailagi grabbed a double in the second half while replacements Samisoni Viriviri and Sevuloni Mocenacagi scored the other tries.
