Lautoka beats Suva in VPL

A last minute penalty saw Lautoka beat Suva 1-0 in the lone Vodafone Premier League match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

The battle of the cities proved to an interesting affair with both teams toiling hard for a win.

Suva was reduced to 10 players late in first half after Jale Dreloa was sent off for head-butting Samuela Drudru.

Goalkeeper Emori Ragata who displayed a Man of the Match performance made more than eight daring saves in the second half denying Drudru, Valerio Nawatu and Dave Radrigai.

Suva’s defence wilted under pressure in the final minute and powerful low shot from the right hand edge of the box touched the hand of defender Abdul Mosheem as he dived to make a clearance.

Zibraaz Sahib rose to the occasion for the Blues and neatly placed the ball beyond Ragata’s reach.

Lautoka now has 6 points from two matches while 3 points after three games.

The teams:

Suva- Emori Ragata, Jale Dreloa, Tomasi Uculoa, Abdul Mosheem, Epeli Lairoti, Don Raj, Sahil Dave, Kelvin Naidu (Aakash Sharma), Pita Rabo, Sairusi Nalabu (Ravinesh Karan Singh), Setareki Hughes.
