Rewa thumps Mt Albert Ponsonby

Rewa kicked off its four match buildup tour of New Zealand in style by thumping Mount Albert Ponsonby 6-0 at Anderson Stadium last night.

The Delta Tigers dominated the match and led 4-0 at halftime with Brazilian striker Elias Silva and Epeli Saukuru netting a double each.

Midfielders Tevita Waranaivalu and Samuela Kautoga scored the other goals in the second half.

Speaking to FijiLive from Auckland, Technical Advisor Gurjit Singh said the match allowed the coaching panel to test all players and they made a lot of changes in the second half to give all members in the team some game time.

"It is very encouraging to see our strikers scoring goals. We need to have that confidence and these buildup matches in New Zealand should act as good exposure for the players ahead of the OFC Champs League."

"These matches will allow us to see the performance of every player and this will help us in deciding on the starting team for our games in Champs League. We will also get a chance to identify the weaknesses and work on improvements," he said.

Rewa faces Solomon Islands' representative to the OFC Champs League, Western United in its second build up match tomorrow.
