Rewa to play four buildup matches

Rewa will play four buildup matches in New Zealand before flying off to Tahiti for Group D matches of the OFC Champions League next week.

The Delta Tigers were initially rostered to play three matches but the cancelation of their friendly against Auckland City has paved the way for an extra match.

Rewa will meet Mount Albert Ponsonby in their first match on Thursday night before facing Western United on Saturday night.

They will play Franklin United in their third buildup match on Monday and will round up the tour of New Zealand with a clash against Waitakere United next Wednesday.

The team will depart for Tahiti on Thursday and will open its campaign against Marist FC of the Solomon Islands on Saturday.

Meanwhile technical advisor and former national coach Gurjit Singh is confident about the team's chances in the OFC Champions League.

"This is a well prepared team. The team has trained for some time and we also played friendly games apart from our two National League matches which we both won. We have a good blend of players and the inclusion of overseas players should strengthen our campaign."

"The buildup games in New Zealand should help the coaching panel to finalise the game plan for OFC Champions League as we will have some quality opponents," he said.
