New winner for Senior Division IDC

A new winner will be crowned in the Senior Division of the 2017 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka in October.

This is after defending champion Nasinu failed to qualify for the tournament under the newly adopted format for the Senior Division by Fiji Football Association.

Under the new format, only 8 teams from the 12 in the Senior Division will play in the IDC.

And the 8 participating districts were determined according to their standing in the Vodafone Senior League in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Tailevu Naitasiri, Navua, Nadroga, Lami, Tavua and newly demoted premier district Rakiraki have qualified from Viti Levu while Seaqaqa, Nadogo and Savusavu have progressed from the North.

One of the two teams between Tavua and Seaqaqa will feature in the Premier Division IDC.

The districts that will not feature in the IDC are Nasinu, Northland Tailevu, Bua and Taveuni.

Group A of 2017 Courts IDC has Tailevu Naitasiri, Nadogo, Navua, Tavua/Seaqaqa while Group B consists of Rakiraki, Savusavu, Nadroga and Lami.

Meanwhile the prize money for the Senior Division winners has been increased.

The winning district will now receive $7000; runner-up will get $2500 while the losing semifinalists will each get $500.
