Tiwa treble keeps Ba in the hunt

Crafty midfielder Malakai Tiwa got a hat-trick of goals as Ba thumped Rewa 4-0 in the Vodafone Premier League at Govind Park today.

The result pushes the Men In Black to the second spot in the standings with 22 points after 11 matches.

Rewa entered the match without a number of their regular players who were either injured or had to miss a match due to suspension.

A foul on Maveliko Nakama by Iosefo Verevou in the 27th minute saw Ba receive a penalty.

Tiwa placed the ball into the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Rewa was reduced to 10 players early in the second half after Verevou was sent off following his second booking of the match.

Tiwa netted Ba’s second goal in the 57th minute after a break by Saula Waqa had the Rewa defence beaten and goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau despite trying his best could not avoid him from scoring.

Impressive right midfielder Sitiveni Cavuilagi slammed in the third goal in the 84th minute and Tiwa wrapped up the big win in the 90th minute with another cool finish.

Ba faces Dreketi in its next match at 3pm tomorrow while Rewa will play Nadi at Prince Charles Park around the same time.
