Tough pool but we will be ready: Singh

Labasa Coach Gurjit Singh says their pool for the upcoming Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) is tough and they will need to prepare really well to defend their title at Churchill Park.

The Babasiga Lions are pooled with last season’s runners-up Ba, Fiji FACT and BOG winners Rewa and giant killers Dreketi in Group B.

Speaking to FijiLive from the United States where he is currently on a little break, Singh said all teams will be out to beat them and they will need to put all possible efforts in the preparations.

“It surely is a very tough pool and we have to be prepared as all teams will come prepared in the IDC.”

“We cannot complain about the pools as it is a tournament and we should be ready to play any team.”

Singh, who jets into the country on September 12, believes they have a very good squad.

“We had a very good BOG and improved in every game after that. Sadly we missed out on the second place in the National League but surely we can prepare well and come out stronger and better in the IDC as we will be defending the title.”

Labasa won the IDC title at the then National Stadium in Suva under Singh’s guidance in 2011 and last year at the same venue the Northerners defeated Ba 2-0 in the final with defender Lekima Gonerau and Ratu Apenisa Anare netting a goal in each half.
